It was a busy day for me last Tuesday. After a morning of operating in Portsmouth, I had to rush to catch a train to Birmingham to appear on Embarrassing Bodies: Live from the Clinic!
The TV crew had taken over the old Hospital Canteen at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and made it into the live studio ready for the evening’s show. I met with Dr Dawn and Dr Christian and we chatted about the cases we would be discussing on the show, one lady who is struggling to conceive due to her weight and another lady who had a gastric band nine years ago. Before the show started I was asked to sit in the ‘goldfish bowl’ to answer web questions – I wasn’t prepared for the heat under the lights. (I now know why the other members of the team called it the goldfish bowl!)
My turn on the sofa was fun – you really don’t know what the participant is going to say, so you just have to be on top form! It all goes by so fast – just hope I didn’t say anything embarrassing – it would be the Embarrassing Doctors!
